Forbidden Thoughts - Newly Forbidden

Since the new TCG Forbidden list have been unveiled, I've decided that it is time for an opinion piece about my thoughts on the forbidden list. In this part, I will only be discussing the newly forbidden cards.

I'm including the baby Dragon Ruler as a single item.  Dragon Rulers dominated the last format.  Dominated it beyond what is acceptable.  This was possible because of these cards: they added immense consistency to the deck.  With these cards banned, Dragon Rulers will be a much more balanced deck.  It will turn Dragon Rulers more so into what they were meant to be; splash-able boss monsters.  This is an excellent balancing decision.

Elemental Hero Stratos is a ban targeted at HERO decks in general, though mainly Elemental HEROs and the possible Destiny HERO decks that could arise from Malicious being placed at three on this list.  Personally I believe this was an unneeded ban.  HERO decks have not been toping tournaments so I think that hurting them in this way was harsh, but perhaps the danger of Malicious at three with three D-Draw warrants this.

Card Destruction is a needed ban.  The card has long been an instant win in Dark Worlds and it also acted as an instant win in Elemental Dragons this format.  This is long overdue in my opinion.

The next ban is another one that was a relief to players: Gateway of the Six.  It would have been an acceptable card if only it said "one counter", but alas R&D made a typo and wrote two so the card needs to go.

Heavy Storm warrants its own post.  I reserve judgment on this card until we see the format.

A card like Monster Reborn only really serves the purpose of being a lucky top deck.  Personally I like the card, but I understand it deserves to go.

Pot of Duplicity was a premonition that tipped everyone off that Pot of Avarice was going to be banned.  It acts extremely close to Pot of Greed in some decks except it also restocks the deck to allow plays to continue.

Spellbook of Judgment is one of the most broken TCG exclusives of our time.  It rewards a play extremely well for a single card, acting as a +5 in some cases.  With this gone Prophecy decks will need to play fair and generate advantage properly.

Super Rejuvenation is another card that generates silly amounts of advantage.  Before Dragon Rulers, this cards main purpose in life was Exodia decks which are widely considered bad for the game.  Now it also serves to create huge advantage in Dragon Rulers.  This card adds nothing to the game and just unbalances it.

Solemn Judgment negates far too much for a single card.  Even though it has a steep cost, it is just too sweeping of a card.  It will be sad to see it go though.  Rest in peace sweet prince.

Finally there is Ultimate Offering, a card thats only real use in the current meta is to enable OTKs in Gadgets.  Instead of eliminating Gadgets, this is a sound hit.
